Respect and Manners at School and Work
R - E - S - P - E - C - T
If a child has poor self-esteem and low expectations, his or
her behavior will reflect those attitudes.
 The emPOWER-
me
nt project interrupts this cycle and replaces self-
defeating attitudes, so that
respect for self and others becomes a habit
expectations for academic success rise

The habit of respect — developed, reinforced, and practiced year after year — promotes academic, personal,
and professional confidence and success.
(For more about
our philosophy, please see
"Success Is  a Two-Way Street.")
It is well documented that young people who habitually
show respect for themselves and others are more likely
than their peers to enjoy school, stay in school, and find
satisfaction in their careers and personal lives.

In
the emPOWERment project's program Respect
and Manners at School and Work,
students learn to
respect themselves and others and to
make a habit of
demonstrating respect in every interaction.
